The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has confirmed the Shanghai Electronic Certification Authority (SHECA) as China’s latest Qualified vLEI Issuer (QVI) — a move that advances digital trust and trade interoperability across borders.

SHECA, one of China’s leading digital certification authorities serving over seven million legal entities, will now issue, validate, and verify verifiable Legal Entity Identifiers (vLEIs). These digital credentials provide cryptographically verifiable organizational identities, helping companies meet compliance standards and streamline processes such as e-invoicing, e-bills of lading, and digital contracts.

According to Alexandre Kech, CEO of GLEIF, this milestone strengthens the vLEI ecosystem in Asia and accelerates the shift toward trusted, real-time digital identity for global commerce.

GLEIF’s announcement coincides with initiatives like its new Partners Program and the first vLEI Hackathon, both aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation in the digital identity space.
